The French federation of unions named Solidaires, the CNT, the Spanish CGT and the SNAPAP (Independent National Union of the State Administration Workers in Algeria) met in Paris on Monday the 30th of April 2007 to organize joint actions of international solidarity with the workers’ struggles in North Africa and more specifically in Algeria.
They adopted the following platform of joint actions :
1) As far as our finances permit it, we will attend an international demonstration in Algiers to support our comrades who belong to the independent Algerian union s with the aim of denouncing the harassment of trade unionists by the Algerian authorities. This demonstration should take place toward the end of December 2007.The Spanish CGT invites all the organizations willing to join in the December demonstration to attend a meeting at the end of September 2007.
2) On the very day the demonstration is to take place in Algiers, our unions will plan to organize demonstrations and gatherings in front of the Algerian embassies and consulates in Europe.
3) We also support the creation of a House of Unions and Human Rights in Algiers, to give our comrades a place to meet freely, to train, to inform , and to organize the Unions’ struggles in Algeria.
